120-mm self-propelled artillery gun 2S9 "Nona-S"

In 1981 for the first time in the world's practice was developed unique artillery system 2S9, which embodied features of mortar and canon.
It was named "Nona-S" self-propelled gun. In 1988 120-mm of the self-propelled gun 2S9-1 (up-dating of SPG 2S9 "Nona-S") come into production for arming airborne troops.
Chassis of the amphibious ar-moured tracked personel carrier BTR-D is used for SPGs 2S9 and 2S9-1.
SPG 2S9-1 exhibits the destructive power of high-explosive projectile at the target compared with the effect of 152-155mm high-explosive projectiles.
SPG 2S9-1 can fire with all types of 120-mm native and foreign type mortar shells.
