In 1975 the production of 220—mm MLRS «Uragan» is organized.
The main way of fire — from closed positions. Firing from a cabin is possible. MLRS «Uragan» can be transported by railway, water, air transport.
The system can be used in conditions of enemy’s application of the nuclear, chemical, bacteriological weapon at any time of year and day, in various climatic conditions at air temperature from −40OC up to +50OC.
The fighting vehicle (FV) 9P140 is intended for firing by rocket projectiles (RP) to annihilate enemy open and covered manpower and materiel at concentration areas, on a march and in battle orders, to destruct helicopters and aircrafts at airfields, command posts, fuel depots and other targets.
MLRS «Uragan» allows to transport rockets in the launching tubes, it is equiped with an electric guidance drive, communication and night-vision devices.
