Military equipment area of the Motovilikha Museum has new exhibits
Outdoor exhibition area of the Motovilikha History Museum has new guns: 1910-1930s type howitzer, howitzer gun D-20 and self-propelled howitzer 2S1 “Gvozdika” (“Carnation”).
Replenishment of the outdoor exhibition area is one of the key points in the museum development program up to 2013 approved by the Board of Directors of JCS “Motovolokhinskiye Zavody”. The main goal of the program is establishment of the best corporate museum in Perm Krai and one of the best corporate museums in Russia.
New exhibits are guns manufactured in the XX century: before the World War II, during the after wartime and in the 1970-80. These guns proved their efficiency in different wars.
122 mm field howitzer 1910-30s type on metal wheels was developed by the French company Schneider. The howitzer was actively used during the World War I and the Civil War in Russia. In 1930 the howitzer was modernized and it was manufactured up to 1941 and was used during the World War II. Motovikikha plants manufactured this type of gun in 1930 – 1941.
152 mm howitzer D-20 developed by F.F. Petrov has been on the mass production since 1955. The howitzer was used in all the big wars of the 2nd half of the XX century, including Vietnam, Afghanistan, the Sino-Soviet border conflict on the Zhenbao (Damanskiy) island, the Six-Day War of 1967 and the Gulf War. Now the howitzer is adopted by the armies of the CIS and several other countries. Motovilikha Plants carried out repair works of these guns up to 2005.
Self-propelled 122 mm howitzer 2S1 “Gvozdika” was manufactured in the period between 1971 till the end of 1980s. The howitzer was intended for destruction of the firepower, command points, field entrenchments, as well as destruction of the hard targets with direct fire. This howitzer has a lot of analogs manufactured abroad. “Gvozdika” was used in Afghanistan, North Caucasus conflicts and the Gulf War. The howitzer is adopted by the armies of the
